Alcalá de Henares is a city located in the Community of Madrid. It has a population of 194.310 inhabitants, making it the second most populated city in the Community of Madrid and the number 32 in Spain. It was declared World Heritage City by Unesco in 1998.
In September 2017, it was deployed in the city as an Integrated Intelligent Space (EII by their initials in Spanish). In other words, a “piece of Smart City” with a very high level of accessibility services for all types of disability (physical, visual, auditive, including the parking service for PMR). The project was successful and had a very important echo in the media serving as a pilot experience for the deployment in other towns. The project was led by the National Centre of Accessibility Technologies (CENTAC by their initials in Spanish).
