53rd edition of the Basque Book and Record Fair

From the 5th to the 9th of December 2018, the 53rd edition of the Basque Book and Record Fair, the famous AZOKA in Durango, took place.

As has been the case since 2011, Gerediaga Elkartea - the association that has been organising the event since its beginnings - has relied on us to control the capacity of the pavilion and obtain attendance data, with the installation of sensors at all the entrances to Landakogunea.

The organisation"s expectations were exceeded, with record numbers of visitors on the 6th and 8th; in the words of Nerea Mujika, president of Gerediaga Elkartea for the last 14 years, “it has been a great edition in terms of quality and quantity. It is worth mentioning that this year many internet users have been informed about all the activities, event schedules, etc. through the website”.

The organisers also pointed out that this year the number of visitors using public transport has also increased.

This year"s novelty was the Creation Grant, which went to the Basque language roll game ATOPIA RPG.

The venue has a capacity of 5,000 people and, in order to maintain security and avoid overcrowding, the counting system installed generates an automatic alarm when 90% occupancy is reached (4,500 people), so that those responsible for the event can reinforce security measures and avoid risky situations.
